Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department

Last night Officer Kevin Rodrigo was sworn into the Honor Legion for his exceptional bravery and courage throughout multiple incidents that took place while working in his previous department. Congratulations!!

The Honor Legion of the Police Departments of the State of New Jersey was incorporated on December 27, 1966, under the simple premise of recognizing the ‘Finest of the Finest’ for their many acts of heroism and valor. They are a federally recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose Executive Board members do not receive a salary or any tangible benefit for their service to the association.

Who can be member: Any Person who is a bona-fide active and paid member, or honorably retired from of any regular Law Enforcement Agency, who has risked his/her life to save a human life, or whose life has been in imminent risk of danger from an armed adversary, shall be eligible to apply for active membership in the Association.

Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department

At last night’s council meeting, Det. Sgt. Balestrieri, Det. Santos and Officer Kirk were presented with Apprehension awards.

Detectives Balestrieri and Santos received the award for their diligent work investigating and apprehending a local habitual offender who had committed multiple burglaries and home invasions in the area.

The offender was charged with 4 counts of burglary, 2 counts of theft, 2 counts of criminal trespass, and 1 count of criminal mischief.

Officer Kirk received the award for his diligence and keen observations when he encountered a female in a suspicious vehicle parked on Arbor Dr. She was in possession of multiple handbags and other items with security tags still attached. The female was determined to be a wanted fugitive out of New York City. She was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, resisting arrest, hindering apprehension and fugitive from justice.

Excellent work to all officers for going above and beyond to keep this town safe!
